It’s no secret that Happy Valley is the best place to work and play — at least for those of us who live here. But attracting talent to the area is a different story, especially when you’re working to draw talent away from big tech hubs and those potential employees aren’t familiar with all that Happy Valley offers them, from industry growth opportunities to a lower cost of living.
Things get especially tricky when you consider the challenges of finding the right fits. According to TalentLyft, talent shortages are on the rise, with 69% of employers having difficulty filling jobs, the highest shortage in more than a decade. Additionally, Korn Ferry predicts that, by 2030, there will be a global human talent shortage of more than 85 million people, or roughly equivalent to the population of Germany. Left unchecked, in 2030 that talent shortage could result in about $8.5 trillion in unrealized annual revenues.
Why are employees turning down or leaving jobs? Achievers notes a lack of recognition, advancement opportunities and compensation.
In addition, potential employees are taking a company’s branding and reputation into account before accepting a job now more than ever.
