Red Cross Challenges Local Tech Community to Step Up for Innovation

Join the Red Cross Power Red Challenge, a fun competition that will make a big impact by funding the purchase of a Power Red Machine for our region. The  machine enables one donor to safely donate two units of blood in one appointment.  With the nationwide blood shortage, these types of power donations can really help. The cost is about $17,000.

 Here’s how the challenge works:

Each participating company contributes $2,500 to join the contest, and then there will be a list of activities that the company and/or your staff can do with the Red Cross to earn points.  These options include scheduling AED/CPR/First aid training, hosting or participating in a virtual blood drive, having a guest speaker about disaster safety or the armed forces services, donating blood/money, volunteering, etc.  The company with the most points at the end will win!  All the participants will be recognized with press and a final event.  These points-earning activities are designed to make our teams are safer and better prepared.

Ben Franklin and the Tech Center Start-ups (together), along with Drucker Diagnostics and KCF Technologies  have already committed to participate.

The goal is to launch this in February and compete in March for Red Cross month.  An info session February the 10th at 9:00am by Zoom.  https://us06web.zoom.us/j/81050577719?pwd=THlFL1hOcHFNS0ZISmJDMVNHbGQzdz09
