For Bridget McGuire, owner and designer at Interiors by J&O Studio, which specializes in window fashion, working with a local design team just makes good business sense, both for the customer and for the area as a whole.
She told us, “More family…businesses should be successful here in Happy Valley. Why support out-of-town [businesses]? Or large companies, because they put small family businesses out of business? [And], if you order [something] online, it might be the wrong size and [then] you can’t get your money back.”
McGuire’s family started Interiors by J&O Studio in 1970 and she’s kept the tradition of stellar customer service going, offering free, in-home consultations that make all the difference.
“Colors look different inside your home,” she said. “So…the business comes to you. You never have to leave your home to get excellent customer service from my family to your family.”
JRT Painting & Remodeling has a similar family focus. Launched in 2015, the Bellefonte business is led by husband-and-wife team, Dawnyelle and Tim Holsinger.
“It's a passion for us. We love seeing the changes and improvements in each project that we do,” they told us via survey. “We have a great crew and each person has their own special qualities. This allows us to create amazing bathrooms, kitchens and more.”
JRT Painting & Remodeling can assist with kitchens, bathrooms, additions and prepping homes for sale, with its team of three remodelers and three painters — though the Holsingers noted that they’re looking to grow their team, as they also increase their business through social media marketing.
