I grew up in Julian — a quiet corner of Happy Valley where the outdoors wasn’t just a backdrop, it was a way of life. I went to Bald Eagle Area High School, spent my weekends on horseback, learned to hunt in the nearby woods, and fished local streams with my family.
Now, I’m a Penn State student, heading into my senior year this fall as an Agribusiness major. But long before college classes and career plans, I knew where I belonged — outside. Whether I was in the saddle, in the woods, or waist-deep in a cold creek with a fly rod in hand, the outdoors called to me.
That deep connection to the land — to Happy Valley — is what inspired me to launch the Why I Love Happy Valley video series. Through these videos, I want to shine a light on the people, places, and outdoor traditions that give this region its soul.
If you missed last week’s episode, you can check it out here. Each video shares a different chapter in the Happy Valley story — and I’m just getting started.

Up next: Spruce Creek. One of Pennsylvania’s most legendary fly fishing destinations. I’ve got the gear, the experience, and the love for the water. What I’m looking for now is someone who knows the creek, shares my passion for fly fishing, and wants to help bring this story to life.
We’re planning to shoot next week — a full day of fishing, filming, and celebrating everything that makes this place so special.
If that sounds like you, send me a note at nicholleprice31@gmail.com. Let’s get out on the water and make something worth sharing.
Let’s show the world what makes Happy Valley feel like home.
