We can’t wait to meet you! Penns Valley Pedals and Pints

By Penns Valley Pedals and Pints

Buggy up! If you hear this term, it means you’re on your bike in Penns Valley, Centre County, PA and an Amish buggy is heading your way. Millheim is home of Penns Valley Pedals and Pints, one of the biggest consistent road riding bicycle clubs in the county. If you are hearing, “buggy up,” you know you’re in for a fun evening of beautiful scenery and a ride with a friendly biking club.

Penns Valley Pedals and Pints is a noncompetitive, community oriented, social bike club that gives back one ride at a time. We don’t have speed limit groups or even many rules. We want to help build the biking community, get to know one another, enjoy the country roads, and of course, get back from our rides safely.

All levels of riders are welcome to join the ride, along with any type of bike that you ride. Each week there is a support vehicle out on the route to help any rider with mechanical issues or a lift back. Like all bike clubs, there is a group of impressive fast riders. But most riders just want to relax after a long day of work, get a little exercise, and enjoy the outdoors in Penns Valley. You can find us each Thursday from mid-May to mid-September riding out of the Millheim Fire Company.

Our weekly rides continue to grow with 95 riders per week in 2025. Routes are between 17 and 22 miles with a different route each week highlighting areas in Penns Valley. Each ride leaves the Millheim Fire Company parking lot at 6:00 PM. After the ride, cyclists meet back at the new Millheim Fire Company pavilion where you will find a different food truck each week, along with refreshing craft beer sold by Elk Creek Café & Aleworks. The food trucks are new this year; the Elk Creek Café has been with us since our very first ride in 2016!

This is how we roll, each rider donates $3.00 per ride, then PVP&P donates the yearly total between six charitable groups in Penns Valley. Over the last nine years, PVP&P has given back over $26,000 to these groups. PVP&P didn’t build their bike club with only the generous donations of riders each week. One of our board members developed a sponsorship program that has not only helped us financially but allowed us to build relationships with businesses in Centre and Union Counties. We now promote their events in our weekly emails that reach over 750 subscribers. Happy Valley Adventure Bureau has also been a resolute supporter of PVP&P for several years now.

If you decide to join Penns Valley Pedals and Pints for a ride, you are can guaranteed to find like-minded people taking the time to enjoy each other and this beautiful Valley. And if you’re anything like me, at some point after the ride you will find yourself saying “that was a really fun night!”
