Maker Faire Happy Valley: Where Curiosity Meets Community

September 20–21, 2025 • Axemann Brewery, Bellefonte

Happy Valley has always been a place where people turn ideas into reality — where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is valued, and making things with your own hands still matters. This September, that spirit will be on full display at Maker Faire Happy Valley, a two-day celebration of invention, learning, and community connection.

At the heart of it all are Discovery Space and The Rivet, two organizations that believe opportunities to explore and create should be open to everyone.

The Guides Behind the Faire

  • Discovery Space exists to spark a lifelong love of learning through hands-on science. They know that when children and families have a chance to explore, experiment, and imagine, they build not only knowledge but confidence.
  • The Rivet believes that every person — whether a curious teen, a hobbyist, or a professional — should have access to the tools, skills, and support needed to bring ideas to life.

Together, they have shaped Maker Faire Happy Valley into more than just an event. It is a shared space where their missions come alive, guiding people of all ages to discover what’s possible when they take the first step to trying something new.

An Invitation to Create

Maker Faire is called “The Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth” for a reason. It’s where art, engineering, craft, and science come together — not for you to watch from a distance, but for you to join in.

Here’s what you can experience:

  • Build a puppet and bring it to life using video puppetry techniques inspired by the Muppeteers.
  • Race LEGO cars you design yourself.
  • Learn to solder and discover the satisfaction of building with your own hands.
  • Revive a sewing project with guidance from textile experts.
  • Screen print your own design to take home.
  • Watch a combat robot competition up close.
  • Meet makers working in everything from encaustic wax to 3D printing.
  • Ride a real speeder car on the local railroad track.

Why Here, Why Now

This event could happen anywhere — but it belongs here. Happy Valley’s history is woven with a tradition of making, from the former brass works and ironworks to today’s inventive studios and workshops. The setting at Axemann Brewery — a restored piece of that industrial past — ties the region’s heritage directly to its future of creativity.

By hosting Maker Faire Happy Valley, Discovery Space and The Rivet are delivering on their shared promise to the community: to open doors to learning, to invite people into creative spaces, and to make innovation accessible to everyone.
