Videon Gives Back, on Two Wheels, with Cranksgiving

11/22/2021

Cranksgiving State College, a food drive on two wheels, is one way that Videon gives back. This year’s event was held on Saturday, Nov. 6, and boasted the largest-ever Cranksgiving State College turnout.

This year, Videon riders joined a grand total of 91 riders on a ride through Happy Valley to buy food for the area's at-risk kids.

Cranksgiving is now in its third year in State College. Sponsored by CentreBike, with help from Videon, CRPA, The Rivet and SPIN, the event benefits Centre County Youth Service Bureau

Riders from around Happy Valley gathered at Videon, then headed out to bike around the area to collect food from local grocery stores. This year, there were 91 participants with a total of 1,633 pounds of food donated — more than $2,500 worth.

Cranksgiving is part of the world’s biggest pedal-powered food drive, with events happening all over the country, in locations from New York City to Minnetonka, Minnesota.

“Giving back to our community is important to Videon, and getting to do it on two wheels makes it even better,” says Videon Founder and President Todd Erdley, who is an avid cyclist. “Our vision at Videon is to impact people and caring for others more than ourselves. This event is one of the ways where we positively transform and impact the world around us.”

“We had a group of great people contributing to a great cause,” he adds, “and it helped a lot of families get food for Thanksgiving.”
