THE OPPORTUNITY: MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST
We are interested in hiring an accomplished Medical Billing Specialist for our office in State College, PA. If you have 2+ years direct work experience in medical billing and you have perfected your performance and skills in a physician’s office/health care setting, we want to hear from you!
NotePro is the Medical Content Wizard that saves Clinicians time, simplifies their note-making practices, links all aspects of patient care, provides a portable document that is compatible with all Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platforms, and automates insurance coding.
General duties include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and submit billing data and medical claims to insurance companies.
- Ensure the patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date.
- Prepare bills and invoices, and document amounts due for medical procedures and services.
- Collect and review referrals and pre-authorizations.
- Monitor and record late payments.
- Follow-up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies.
- Examine patient bills for accuracy and request any missing information.
- Investigate and appeal denied claims.
- Help patients develop patient payment plans.
- Maintain billing software by updating rate change, cash spreadsheets, and current collection reports.
Minimum Job Entry Requirements:
- In addition to having 2+ years solid work experience with medical billing in a physician’s office/health care setting and demonstrated proficiency with medical billing software
- Proven knowledge of how to submit claims compliant with government regulations and private payer policies; effective follow-up on claim statuses, being able to resolve claim denials, submit appeals, post payments and adjustments, and manage collections is essential.
- Proven proficiency in the correct application of CPT®, HCPCS Level II procedure and supply codes, and ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes used for coding and billing for medical claims in a physician's office; certification required. Bachelors degree a plus!
- If required by job duties, background checks (criminal/education/employment/ reference/credit) will be performed; results must be satisfactory to the company
- If hired, must adhere to all company policies and procedures and other prescribed best practices/industry standards
